Happy Birthday to My 6 Year Old!

Our little Collin turned 6 last Saturday. Six? I remember the day he was born so vividly like it was yesterday. He was my easiest pregnancy and labor and was a pretty easy baby. He's still easy-going. Here are the top 6 things I love about him.

1. He makes us laugh, all the time. He's a pretty witty guy.

2. He's not afraid to dance, sing, and act just plain silly (only in front of us, of course).

3. He loves to help Kurt. It doesn't matter what it is as long as he's with his dad.

4. His love of nature. From collecting bugs to helping in the yard, or taking care of "pet" caterpillars.

5. He's a pretty well-rounded kid. He loves to ride his bike and scooter, play outside and dig around in the dirt, but he'll also help me cook and play with his sisters' babies with them.

6. He's just so darn cute!

The First Day of School . . .

and I didn't cry this year! Although I had a lump in my throat, especially as I rounded the corner of the school to take Collin to Kindergarten. I'm learning no matter how young or old they are, it's just hard to let go. But I can take joy in the fact that both Collin and Jackson have awesome teachers this year. I'm excited for them. Here are my cute little guys as they enter 2nd Grade and Kindergarten.

The Hungry Little Caterpillars

On Saturday while doing yard work, Kurt found 2 large caterpillars crawling near the rock wall. He called the boys out to see them. Collin, our little bug collector, took it upon himself to adopt these two. He has taken care of his little "Sprite" and "Blackout," as he has affectionately named them, since Saturday. He checks on them daily and gives them fresh leaves and has even given them a stick to crawl on. I have to admit, I'm surprised they're still alive. I think he's learning a lot by taking the responsibility of keeping these poor little guys alive. Personally, I think he's keeping them around hoping that the next morning they will have turned into butterflies! A guy can hope, can't he?

Only one word can sum up our funny guy, Collin, SILLY!

It took a while to get him to warm up to the idea that all he had to do was smile in the pictures. But once he did we got these shots of him that I love. You would think a kid that is so fun loving and silly wouldn't have a hard time smiling for a picture but apparantly he's going through a camera -shy phase.
